Poker is considered a game of odds. Most of the action you take in an online poker room, or the hand you play or even the bets you place has a lot of odds involved along with mathematical probability and statistics. One does not have to be a mathematics expert for playing the game of poker online. There are a number of poker players who have least knowledge of common denominator in maths. The game is in fact very much simple. This simplicity is what makes the poker a game of simple equations and easy mathematics.

One has to learn to figure out all of the odds when playing poker. You have to learn the strategy of using your pot odds which is just the amount of money that you have in your pot as compared with the amount of money that you need to pay when you have to stay in the play. You also need to figure out how to calculate all of your equity when playing the game. Equity are your chances of winning the game as compared to your opponents. Calculating equity gives all of your chances of winning your pots as percentage.

Pot odds are given as ratio and equity is given as percentage. One needs to do an approximation calculation as poker math is not needed to be exact calculation placed on the tables. The next step would be to make a comparison between the two. So if the value of your pot odds is higher as compared to your equity then it may be called as a good call. If it comes to be lower then it may be a bad call. So, when speaking of online poker, odds are no more complicated than this.
